Dummy ticket in Mumbai: visa centres, consulates and airports

Dummy ticket in Mumbai - sample flight reservation BOM to CDG (Paris) with PNR, issued by FDT

You can order a dummy ticket in Mumbai online and receive the reservation by email and WhatsApp. The local visa arrangements include centres at BKC and Mahalaxmi and consulates serving western India, from Gujarat to Goa. The source guide also considers the region's two airports from 2026. Confirm which airport your itinerary should show before ordering.

BOM or Navi Mumbai: get the airport code right

Navi Mumbai International Airport opened for domestic flights in December 2025 and handled its first international departure, an Air India Express flight to Abu Dhabi, on 15 July 2026. Early international services from it are short-haul, primarily to the Gulf. Long-haul flights to Europe, North America and East Asia continue to leave from Terminal 2 at the old airport.

This matters on paper because the two airports have different codes. A reservation for Europe will show BOM. If you select a Gulf flight from the new airport, the itinerary will show NMI, and your return leg may land at either. That is fine as long as it is a flight that exists. What looks careless is an application form that says Mumbai while the itinerary shows an airport across the harbour in Navi Mumbai that you had not noticed.

Two VFS centres and which one you are sent to

VFS Global runs two centres in the city. The larger is in the Trade Centre building in G Block, Bandra Kurla Complex. The other is at Urmi Axis in Mahalaxmi, near Famous Studio. Countries are divided between them, and the UK has had counters at both, so the appointment letter tells you which one to attend. Do not assume it is the one you used last time.

Spain's files go to BLS International's own Mumbai centre. For the United States, the Consulate General in BKC conducts interviews, and biometrics are taken at a separate Visa Application Centre on an earlier day.

BKC has no suburban railway station of its own. Most applicants take an auto or cab from Bandra or Kurla station, or the metro line that now serves BKC. Allow time for the security queue at the building entrance.

Western India's consular map

Mumbai's consulates generally hold authority over the western and central states. Germany's Consulate General lists Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh with the neighbouring union territory. France's and Japan's consulates in Mumbai publish essentially the same area.

So an applicant in Ahmedabad, Surat, Indore, Nagpur or Panaji is typically a Mumbai-jurisdiction applicant even if the file is lodged at a centre in their own city. Two consequences:

  • The file travels to Mumbai for a decision, so allow courier time when choosing travel dates.
  • If the consulate wants an interview or extra documents, the request comes from Mumbai.

Some smaller countries have only an embassy in Delhi and no Mumbai consulate, in which case even a file lodged at BKC is decided in the capital.

What Mumbai's flight network offers

BOM has the second-largest international network in India. At the time of writing three airlines fly non-stop to London Heathrow, Air India flies non-stop to New York (JFK) and Newark, and there are non-stop flights to Frankfurt and other European hubs. Mumbai is also India's main gateway to Africa, with flights to Nairobi and Addis Ababa among others, and it has dense service to the Gulf, Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong.

TripWhat a Mumbai traveller typically books
UKNon-stop BOM to London
Schengen countriesNon-stop to a hub such as Frankfurt, or one stop via the Gulf or Istanbul
USA east coastNon-stop to New York or Newark, or one stop via Europe or the Gulf
East and southern AfricaNon-stop to Nairobi or Addis Ababa, then onward
Southeast AsiaNon-stop to Singapore or Bangkok

For a South Africa or UK application, these are the routings an officer in the Mumbai consulate sees every day.

Group and family applications

Mumbai's centres see a lot of family groups and package-tour groups, especially before the April to June school holidays. Each traveller needs their name on a reservation, and families typically travel on a shared booking. If one member's visa is delayed or refused, a shared paid ticket becomes a problem for everyone, which is one reason consulates in the Schengen system tell applicants not to purchase tickets before the decision.

If you are travelling with a tour operator, ask whether the operator supplies the group itinerary for the visa file. Do not submit two different itineraries for the same person.

How to order

FDT provides an airline reservation with a live PNR, checkable on the carrier's Manage Booking page, at ₹799 / $10 per passenger for one-way, return or multi-city reservations. It is delivered in approximately 10 minutes, stays verifiable for up to two weeks, and is a hold, not a ticket to fly on. The consulate decides the visa. Order at the booking page; pricing for families and multi-city trips is set out in the price guide.

Frequently asked questions

Will my Europe itinerary depart from Navi Mumbai airport?

Unlikely at the time of writing. The new airport's international flights began in July 2026 with short-haul Gulf routes. Long-haul flights still use BOM Terminal 2.

Which VFS centre do I go to, BKC or Mahalaxmi?

It depends on the country. The appointment letter names the centre. Check it each time, since allocations between the two change.

I live in Ahmedabad and lodged my file there. Should my itinerary start from Mumbai?

Start from Ahmedabad if you will fly from there, since it has its own international flights. Being in Mumbai's consular area does not mean you must depart from Mumbai.

Can I order one reservation for a family of four?

Yes. All four names go on the order and the charge is per passenger. Enter each name exactly as in that person's passport.

Is there an FDT office in Andheri or Fort where I can pay cash?

No. Orders and payment are online through Razorpay by UPI, card or net banking, and the document is sent electronically.
