A dummy ticket in Delhi can be ordered online and delivered by email and WhatsApp without visiting an office. Delhi is home to many embassies, so the application arrangements depend on the mission handling your file. This guide covers the application-centre move in 2026, the applicants who submit here and flight options from IGI Airport.
| Airport | Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL); most international flights use Terminal 3 |
|---|---|
| VFS Schengen, UK and Ireland centre | K.G. Marg, Connaught Place, since January 2026 |
| Embassy district | Chanakyapuri |
| Second NCR airport | Noida International (Jewar) opened in June 2026 with domestic flights |
| Reservation | ₹799 per passenger, verifiable for up to 2 weeks |
The application centre moved in January 2026
For years, Delhi applicants for Schengen countries, the UK and Ireland went to the VFS centre at Shivaji Stadium Metro Station. In January 2026 VFS Global shifted these services to VFS Global House on Kasturba Gandhi Marg in Connaught Place. The move happened in two stages during the month, covering first the UK, Ireland and the Nordic group and then Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Poland and others.
Older guides and saved map pins still point to the metro station. Use the address in your appointment letter. The nearest metro stations are Barakhamba Road and Rajiv Chowk, and parking around K.G. Marg is limited, so the metro is the practical choice. Spain is handled separately by BLS International, and the United States runs its own Visa Application Centre, so check each confirmation for its location.
Embassy city: what is different about filing here
In Mumbai, Chennai or Bengaluru a consulate general decides your visa. In Delhi it is the embassy's own visa section in Chanakyapuri, and for some countries with no consulate elsewhere in India, Delhi decides every Indian application regardless of where it was lodged. Switzerland, for instance, processes its Indian visa applications in New Delhi.
Two practical effects follow. First, files lodged at centres in Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Jaipur or Lucknow typically travel to Delhi for a decision, which adds courier days. Second, embassies sometimes call applicants for an interview in person, and that means a trip to Chanakyapuri even if you submitted elsewhere.
Who falls under Delhi
Each country draws its own map, but the northern states generally come under the embassy. Japan's embassy, for example, lists Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh and most of the north-east in its area at the time of writing.
If you live in Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad or Faridabad you are in Haryana or Uttar Pradesh on paper, yet still within Delhi's territory for practically every mission, so the state line inside the NCR does not matter. It matters more for people who have recently moved: a Delhi address with a passport from Maharashtra is fine, but keep a rent agreement or utility bill ready to show current residence.
What IGI's network means for your itinerary
Delhi has the widest long-haul network in India, so a Delhi resident's itinerary should typically be simple. Non-stop flights operate to the main European hubs such as London, Paris, Frankfurt and Amsterdam, to North American cities including New York and Toronto, and to Tokyo and Australian cities, alongside the Gulf and Southeast Asian routes. Schedules change by season, so confirm that the flight you name exists on your date.
- Western Europe: a non-stop from DEL is the ordinary choice. A two-stop routing looks odd when a direct flight exists.
- Smaller European cities: one stop via Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Istanbul or a Gulf hub.
- USA and Canada: non-stop to the major gateways, or one stop via Europe or the Gulf.
- Central Asia and Russia: Delhi is the main Indian gateway, and our Russia page covers that routing.
DEL or the new Noida airport on the itinerary?
Noida International Airport at Jewar began commercial flights in June 2026 with domestic services. We could not confirm a firm international schedule from it at the time of writing. For a visa itinerary this means the departure airport for an NCR resident should still be DEL unless you have seen a real international flight from Jewar on the airline's own site.
The same caution applies to terminals. Some international departures have been shifted between terminals at IGI during expansion work. The terminal is not something a consulate checks, but it matters when you later purchase the real ticket.
Applicants coming to Delhi from other states
If you live in Amritsar, Dehradun or Jaipur and will fly out of Delhi, start the international itinerary at DEL. You do not need to add the train or domestic flight to Delhi. If you would really fly from Amritsar or Jaipur on an international service, use that airport instead.
Time the reservation to the submission, not to your journey to Delhi. People who order before boarding an overnight train, then have the appointment pushed by a week, end up needing a second one. The hold period is explained in how long a dummy ticket is valid.
Placing the order
FDT supplies a held airline reservation whose PNR can be checked on the airline's Manage Booking page. It costs ₹799 / $10 per passenger for one-way, return or multi-city reservations and is delivered to you in approximately 10 minutes. It is not a paid ticket, cannot be used to board, and gives no assurance about the embassy's decision. NCR applicants can order on the booking page, or ask the chat assistant to set up the routing from DEL.
Frequently asked questions
Is the VFS centre for Schengen visas still at Shivaji Stadium Metro Station?
No. Since January 2026 the Schengen, UK and Ireland centres operate from VFS Global House on K.G. Marg, Connaught Place. Follow the address in your appointment letter.
I live in Gurugram. Do I apply in Delhi or at a Haryana centre?
Delhi. The NCR towns fall within the embassy's area for practically all countries, and the Delhi centre is the nearest one.
Can I name Noida International Airport as my departure airport?
Only if a real international flight operates from it on your date. At the time of writing it had opened with domestic flights, so DEL is the safe choice.
Are there agents near Nehru Place or Connaught Place who issue these reservations?
FDT does not work through local agents or counters. You order on the website from anywhere in the NCR and receive the PDF electronically.
My file was lodged in Chandigarh. Will the Delhi embassy check the booking later than my submission date?
Possibly, since the file takes time to reach the embassy. Order the reservation as close to submission as you can so that more of its two-week period falls after the file arrives.
