To verify a dummy ticket PNR, visit the website of the airline shown on the reservation. Open Manage Booking and enter the six-character reference with your surname. If your name and flights are displayed, the reservation is active. The check takes approximately two minutes and should be completed before each appointment.
| What you need | Airline booking reference + surname |
|---|---|
| Where to check | The operating airline's Manage Booking page |
| Good result | Your name, flights and dates displayed |
| Most common failure | Using the agency (GDS) code on the airline site |
| When to check | On delivery and again the day before submission |
Find the right code on the PDF
Look near the top of the itinerary for a field labelled Booking reference, Airline reference, Airline PNR or Record locator. It is six characters, a mix of letters and digits, such as R4TX9B.
Many itineraries print two codes. One belongs to the reservation system the travel agent used, the other to the airline. They can be identical or completely different. For the airline website you need the airline's own code, which is frequently shown next to the flight details with the airline's two-letter code in front, for example AI/R4TX9B.
Run the check on the airline's own site
- Type the airline's web address yourself or reach it through a search engine. Do not rely on a link or QR code printed on the document: the point of the check is that it is independent.
- Open the booking-retrieval page. The label differs by carrier: Air India, Qatar Airways and Singapore Airlines call it Manage Booking, Emirates uses Manage your booking, and Lufthansa uses My bookings.
- Enter the booking reference and the surname exactly as printed on the reservation, without titles such as MR or MS.
- Submit and read the result against your PDF.
If the itinerary has flights on two airlines, repeat the check on the second airline's site with the code shown for that carrier.
Airline locator and GDS locator: why a code fails on the 'wrong' site
Travel agents book through global distribution systems such as Amadeus, Sabre and Travelport. The agent's system creates its own record with its own locator, and the airline's system creates a matching record with another. When the airline's reservation system runs on the same platform as the agent's, the two codes are typically the same. When it does not, they differ, and the agent's code means nothing to the airline's website.
Codeshares add a layer. A flight sold under one airline's number but operated by a partner can have a separate locator in each airline's system. The website that will recognise your code is the one whose locator you are holding, which is typically the airline that markets the flight on your itinerary.
If you only have the agency code, ask the issuer for the airline reference. A proper reservation always has one.
What a valid result looks like
A live reservation shows the passenger name, the same flight numbers, dates and airports as the PDF, and a status that reads as confirmed or on hold. Many airlines also display a prompt to pay or a notice that the booking is awaiting ticketing, sometimes with a deadline. That is expected for a held reservation and is not an error. Background on held bookings is in what is a dummy ticket.
Check four things on screen: spelling of every name, travel dates, routing, and the number of passengers. A consulate officer who looks up the booking sees this page, not your PDF.
If the booking does not retrieve
| What you see | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 'Booking not found' | Agency locator entered, or wrong airline site | Use the airline reference on the operating or marketing carrier's site |
| 'Name does not match' | Surname typed differently from the record, or given name and surname swapped | Copy the surname from the PDF; try without spaces |
| Flights shown as cancelled | The ticketing deadline has passed | Ask the issuer for a fresh reservation |
| Nothing on any airline site | The code was never in an airline system | Do not submit the document |
Two smaller causes: a brand-new booking can take a few minutes to appear, and a few airline sites only display bookings made on their own website. In that case ask the issuer which page the code opens on, or call the airline's reservations line and quote the reference.
The last row matters most. A PDF that cannot be found anywhere is typical of edited templates, discussed in free dummy ticket generator risks.
When to verify
Check three times. First, as soon as the document arrives, so that a typing error can be corrected while it is easy. Second, the evening prior to submission at the visa centre or attend an interview. Third, if the consulate takes long to decide, before answering any request for updated documents.
Take a screenshot of the airline page with the date visible each time. A held booking lapses on the airline's deadline, so a screenshot shows it was live when you applied. Timelines are covered in how long a dummy ticket stays valid.
Reservations from Flight Dummy Tickets carry an airline PNR that opens under Manage Booking and stays verifiable for up to 2 weeks. If yours does not retrieve, message support on WhatsApp at +1 (786) 957-8117 at any hour.
Frequently asked questions
Can I verify a PNR without the passenger's surname?
No. Airline retrieval pages need both the booking reference and the surname on the record. This stops strangers from opening a booking with a guessed code.
Do third-party PNR checking websites work?
Some read the same reservation systems and some do not, and you would be typing your booking details into a site you do not know. The airline's own website is the check a consulate would trust, so use that.
The airline page asks me to pay now. Is something wrong?
No. A held reservation is unpaid by definition, so the airline offers the option to complete the purchase. Ignore it unless you actually want to purchase the ticket.
Will the visa officer verify my booking?
They can, and you should assume they might. Nobody outside the consulate knows how frequently checks are made, which is why the reservation should be live on the day you submit.
My reservation has two passengers. Do I check each one?
One booking reference typically covers everyone on it. Retrieve it with either surname and confirm that all names are listed and spelt as in the passports.
