Dummy ticket in Kochi: planning a visa itinerary from Kerala

Dummy ticket in Kochi - sample flight reservation COK to DXB (Dubai) with PNR, issued by FDT

A dummy ticket in Kochi is ordered online and delivered by email and WhatsApp, with no office visit. Kochi's main international connections serve the Gulf and Southeast Asia. If your destination is Europe, North America or Japan, review the connecting flights carefully. This guide explains how to prepare an itinerary for those journeys.

What actually flies from Nedumbassery

Cochin International Airport's winter 2026 schedule lists 19 international destinations, according to the airport's announcement reported in the Kerala press. The United Arab Emirates is its largest overseas market, followed by the other Gulf states: Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain. To the east there are flights to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Colombo and Male.

What the airport does not have, at the time of writing, is a dependable non-stop flight to continental Europe, North America, Japan or Australia. A non-stop London service has operated in the past, so confirm the current schedule before you name one. For everything else, a connection is part of any honest itinerary from Kochi.

Routing a long-haul itinerary: via the Gulf or via an Indian metro

There are two sensible ways to build a Europe or North America itinerary from Kerala.

OptionExampleWhen it suits
COK to a Gulf hub to the destinationKochi to Doha to ParisThe usual choice. One ticket, one connection, and how most Kerala travellers fly to Europe and the US.
COK to Singapore or Kuala Lumpur, then onwardKochi to Singapore to TokyoBest for Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
Start from Bengaluru, Mumbai or DelhiBengaluru to FrankfurtOnly if you will really travel to that city first, for instance because you work there.

Gulf schedules were disrupted for part of 2026, so confirm that the flights on your itinerary operate on your dates. If you live in Kerala and your documents show a Kerala address and employer, start from a Kerala airport. An itinerary from Delhi with nothing else in the file linking you to Delhi is harder to explain than a one-stop from Kochi.

Kochi is not Kerala's only departure point

Kerala has four international airports: Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode and Kannur. A resident of Malappuram would typically fly from Kozhikode and someone from Kollam from Thiruvananthapuram. Use the airport you would truly depart from. Their international networks are also Gulf-centred, so the same one-stop logic applies.

On a return itinerary, the homeward flight can land at a different Kerala airport from the one you left. That is common in real bookings and causes no difficulty, as long as the dates correspond to the rest of the file.

Where a Kerala applicant's file is lodged and decided

VFS Global's Kochi centre is in the Ravipuram stretch of M.G. Road and takes applications for a number of countries. Kerala has no visa-issuing consulates of the major destination countries, so the decision is taken elsewhere:

  • Germany: the Consulate General in Bengaluru, whose district is Karnataka and Kerala.
  • Japan: the Consulate General in Chennai, with submission through VFS in Kochi by appointment.
  • France: the Consulate General in Puducherry, which covers Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
  • United States: there is no US post in Kerala. Applicants travel to Chennai or another consulate for both biometrics and the interview.
  • Spain: lodged with BLS International, which lists a Cochin centre. Confirm on its site.

Not every country accepts files in Kochi. If yours does not, you will be delivered to Bengaluru, Chennai or Mumbai, and the reservation should be timed to that appointment. Leave room in your dates for the courier journey between Kochi and the deciding consulate.

Gulf trips: visit visas and the return booking

A large share of travel from Kochi is to the Gulf, frequently to visit family working there. Visit visas for the UAE and its neighbours are typically arranged online through an airline, a sponsor or an approved agent, not through a consulate file, and the rules on showing a return booking and funds at check-in have been enforced more strictly at some times than others.

If you are travelling on a visit visa, be ready to show a return or onward booking at the COK check-in counter and on arrival. Our Dubai visa page sets out the current requirements, and this guide covers accommodation proof, which is checked alongside the flight. People going to the Gulf for employment follow a different, employer-led process.

Ordering from Kerala

FDT issues a held airline reservation with a PNR that appears on the airline's Manage Booking page. A one-way or return is ₹799 per passenger, and a multi-city itinerary has the same ₹799 / $10 charge per passenger. Customers paying from the Gulf or elsewhere abroad are charged in their own currency, which helps when a relative overseas is paying for a parent's file. Delivery takes approximately 10 minutes and the booking is verifiable for up to two weeks. It cannot be used to board, and the consulate makes the decision. Kerala orders are placed on the booking page like any other.

Frequently asked questions

Should my Schengen itinerary start from Kochi or from Mumbai?

From Kochi if you live in Kerala. A one-stop routing through Doha, Dubai or Abu Dhabi is normal. Start from Mumbai only if you will actually travel from there.

Will a connecting itinerary through the Gulf need a transit visa that I must show?

For a simple airside connection on one ticket, Indian passport holders generally do not need a transit visa in the main Gulf hubs. Rules differ by airport and length of stop, so check with the airline.

My son in Dubai is paying for my reservation. Can he order it from there?

Yes. The order is placed online, payment can be made from abroad in the payer's currency, and the PDF can be delivered to your WhatsApp number in Kerala.

Can I depart from Kochi and return to Kozhikode on the same reservation?

Yes. That is a normal return booking with a different arrival airport. Confirm the dates correspond to your application form and insurance.

Is there a US visa interview centre in Kochi?

No. Kerala applicants attend biometrics and the interview at a US consulate in another city, most frequently Chennai.
