Dummy ticket for Philippines visa-free entry: the return ticket condition

Dummy ticket for Philippines visa-free entry - sample flight reservation BLR to MNL (Manila) with PNR, issued by FDT

Since June 2025, Indian tourists have been eligible for 14 days of visa-free entry to the Philippines, or 30 days with specified visas or residence permits. A return or onward ticket remains a listed condition and is checked by airlines. A dummy ticket for a Philippines visa is mainly relevant to a longer-stay visa application. Visa-free entry requires a ticketed exit.

Two visa-free tracks, with different day counts

The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs opened visa-free entry to Indian nationals in mid-2025. There are two tracks:

TrackStayExtra requirement
General tourist14 daysNone beyond the standard conditions
'AJACSSUK' holders30 daysValid visa or permanent residence of Australia, Japan, America (USA), Canada, a Schengen state, Singapore or the UK

The 14-day entry cannot be extended or converted to another status, so you cannot fix a late return flight after arrival. Both tracks are for tourism only and are available at the main international airports and seaports. Travellers with a derogatory immigration record in the Philippines are excluded.

The four documents officers can ask for

The official advisory lists what an Indian visitor must be able to present:

  • a passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay;
  • confirmed hotel accommodation or booking;
  • proof of financial capacity, such as a bank statement or employment certificate;
  • a return ticket, or an onward ticket to the next country of destination.

Add the eTravel registration, which every arriving passenger completes free on the government's eTravel site within 72 hours before the flight. It generates a QR code that is scanned on arrival.

Check-in is the tough gate

The Philippines has long had a reputation among travellers for the firmest onward-ticket enforcement in Southeast Asia, and it happens before you leave India or your transit airport. Airlines are liable for returning anyone refused entry, so staff will not issue a boarding pass for the Manila or Cebu sector until they see a flight out of the Philippines dated inside your permitted stay.

That means a one-way fare with 'I will book the return from there' does not work. It also means the ticket needs to be valid and visible in the airline's system at the moment of check-in. A reservation that expired last week cannot be found when staff search the PNR.

Day-count mistakes that get people turned back

On the 14-day track, a return on day 15 is outside the exemption. Count from the arrival date in the Philippines, not the departure date from India; an overnight connection through Singapore or Kuala Lumpur can shift arrival to the next calendar day in your favour, but never assume it.

If you are relying on the 30-day track, the supporting visa or residence permit must be valid on the day you enter, and you should carry the original passport that contains it. An expired US visa, or one in an old passport you left at home, puts you back on 14 days, and a return flight on day 25 then becomes a problem at the counter.

Flights: one non-stop, many one-stop options

Air India began a non-stop Delhi to Manila service in October 2025, initially five days a week on an Airbus A321neo. It was the first direct link between the two countries in years; check that it is operating on your dates. From other Indian cities the usual routings are through Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok or Hong Kong on Singapore Airlines, Scoot, Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Thai Airways, Cathay Pacific, Cebu Pacific or Philippine Airlines.

Manila (NAIA) is the main gateway, with Cebu and Clark as alternatives. Many itineraries enter at Manila and leave from Cebu after visiting Palawan or Bohol. That is acceptable: the exit must be international and within the stay, but not from the same airport. A domestic Manila to Puerto Princesa booking is not an onward ticket.

Staying longer than the exemption allows

For a trip longer than 14 days without a qualifying third-country visa, apply for a temporary visitor visa before travel, through the Philippine Embassy in New Delhi or the e-visa system. Those applications request travel details, and This is the point at which a held reservation is the sensible document, since you should not pay for flights before a visa is decided. See flight itinerary for visa application for what the itinerary should contain, and check the embassy's current checklist.

What FDT provides

FDT issues a genuine airline reservation with a PNR that can be verified on the airline's Manage Booking page. The cost is ₹799 / $10 per passenger for one-way, return or multi-city reservations, it is delivered by email and WhatsApp approximately 10 minutes after payment, and it stays verifiable for up to 2 weeks. You can order online at /booking.html, and how to book a dummy ticket online walks through the steps.

It is a held booking and cannot be used to board. For visa-free entry, travel with a ticketed return or onward flight. The decision to admit you is made by the Philippine Bureau of Immigration officer at the port of entry.
